Important Information for Graduating Seniors About School Materials, Chromebooks, Google Accounts and Digital Items
Materials Return:
All Seniors will be required to return all textbooks and library materials on designated materials return dates, to be announced by the district in coming days. Textbooks and library materials left in student lockers will also be collected during this time. Seniors who do not return items such as textbooks or library books will be put on obligations until these items are returned to the district.
Any student who was issued a GCHS hotspot during Remote Learning must return the hotspot after the conclusion of the school year to avoid having additional obligations assessed to their accounts.
Outstanding obligations will inhibit a student’s ability to request official high school transcripts for college admission, military enlistment, or employment application purposes.
Senior Chromebooks:
All Seniors will have the option to purchase their Chromebooks, chargers, and protective sleeves at the cost of $20. The GCHS Technology Department will be providing students with instructions, via GCHS email, on how to factory reset their Chromebooks in order to keep them as their own personal devices. After this process, the Chromebook will no longer be managed by District 124 and they will no longer connect to the GCHS network. This process will coincide with the end of the school year. The devices are provided “as-is,” without any type of device warranty.
Keeping Student Files:
It is the student’s responsibility to save the files they need. Your District 124 computer logins and Google account will remain active until July 31, 2021. This will provide time to move any data into one’s personal computer or into a cloud storage service. After July 31, 2021, students will no longer have access to their Grant logins. Student Google accounts will be deactivated and they will no longer have access to their data. Please plan accordingly!
How to Transfer Student Files:
If students have logged into desktop computers at GCHS, they may have items stored in their “My Documents” folder (also called the H: drive, or home drive). Student H: drives will be erased over the summer. If students wish to keep anything stored in this location, they will need to make a request via email to tech@grantbulldogs.org to have it moved over to their Grant Google Drive. GCHS Google accounts will be disabled after July 31, 2021.
Use Google Takeout to copy Google Drive/Gmail from a student District 124 Google account over to a personal Gmail account. If a student does not have a personal Google account, click here to create one.
